MACEDON. Akanthos. Circa 500-480 BC. Tetrobol (Silver, 14 mm, 2.25 g). Forepart of a lioness to right, head seen from above; above, rosette. Rev. Quadripartite incuse square with granulated recesses. AMNG III, 11-13 var. (different symbols). BMC 13. SNG ANS 18-23 var. (different symbols). Very rare with the rosette symbol. A beautiful coin of powerful late archaic style. Extremely fine.
